THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK

HARRY WARREN

“HE’S NOT WORTH YOUR TEARS”

One possibility of why songs of this era made those dramatic turns into minor keys is the sense that these bands were playing on the deck of the Titanic. The economy hit rock bottom in 1931, then crashed through that bottom and found a whole new bottom. Happy ditties didn’t show up again until FDR took over in 1933.

Mort Dixon and Billy Rose were Harry’s lyricists. That’s Helen Rowland on vocals.

That one was so nicely restored that it is hard to believe that it’s an old 78.

Good Job! :-)
