John Dowd was convinced that President Trump would commit perjury if he talked to special counsel Robert S. Mueller III. So, on Jan. 27, the presidents then-personal attorney staged a practice session to try to make his point.
In the White House residence, Dowd peppered Trump with questions about the Russia investigation, provoking stumbles, contradictions and lies until the president eventually lost his cool.
This things a goddamn hoax, Trump erupted at the start of a 30-minute rant that finished with him saying, I dont really want to testify.
The dramatic and previously untold scene is recounted in Fear, a forthcoming book by Bob Woodward that paints a harrowing portrait of the Trump presidency, based on in-depth interviews with administration officials and other principals.
Woodward writes that his book is drawn from hundreds of hours of interviews with firsthand participants and witnesses that were conducted on deep background, meaning the information could be used but he would not reveal who provided it. His account is also drawn from meeting notes, personal diaries and government documents.
The book also details Trumps impatience with the war in Afghanistan, which had become Americas longest conflict. At a July 2017 National Security Council meeting, Trump dressed down his generals and other advisers for 25 minutes, complaining that the United States was losing, according to Woodward.
The soldiers on the ground could run things much better than you, Trump told them. They could do a much better job. I dont know what the hell were doing. He went on to ask, How many more deaths? How many more lost limbs? How much longer are we going to be there?

A lot of what the Post thinks is damaging to Trump actually makes him look good to his supporters, like the rant about Afghanistan.

Yeah, and not a single word out of this guy during Obamas eight years.
He defended Clinton adnausium too.
Hes a lifelong fraud.
The part about Trump ordering Mattis to kill Assad totally smells Fake.
More lies from the leftist bob
the excerpts above reveal that President Trump is doing his job. I fail to see from the two examples where the issue is.
1. He does a mock meeting with Mueller, and he’s convinced in just a few minutes, that he DOESN’T want to testify.
2. He’s upset with the way Afghanistan war that he inherited is conducted. He shows aggravation with the generals. Ok? What’s wrong with that?
I think for the most part the facts are correct, if incomplete or out of context, but the spin is what the book is all about.
I have no doubt that a practice session on Trump’s testimony, conducted by an able attorney, would have gone exactly as shown. Trump tends to “shoot from the hip” when speaking, and in front of FIB agents or a grand jury, that’s the last thing you can do.
As for Afghanistan, that part does make Trump look good. He’s asking his generals the same questions the American people started asking six months after we got there.

"The Trump White House is a well-oiled machine?"
From the little written here, I like the guy even more.
Trump is not afraid to tell a 4 star general that he’s fook of crap...
Yep, knowing what we now know about Woodward and Bernstein it is pretty clear that Nixon was screwed over.
> the information could be used but he would not reveal who provided it <
That there says it all: A book based on “some guy told me”.
gee, it’s hard to imagine how much greater the myriad of winning would be if there wasn’t a Nervous Breakdown of Trumps Presidency ... he said sarcastically ...
Good point. Leftist lies sell books
Dowd gave Trump horrible legal advice.
Trying to relive his glory days from a half a century ago.
I read the article, the portrayal of Trumps temperament seems consistent with others. Is anyone surprised? I like him, voted for him, will again in 2020. I thought he was crazy long before the 2016 campaign, but Ive come to accept that his brand of loony is whats needed to shake up DC and the GOP.
Lemme get this straight. A tell-all book slandering President Trump. No corroborative evidence from an unbiased source.
Has this ever been done before?
Is this making history? Wow. Double wow.
Barnes & Noble clerk: Section 12-A. The overflow unsold copies of anti-Trump titles are stacked on the floor by Hillary’s unsold book and the others are being marked “clearance” or sent to the Dollar Tree this afternoon.
Oh. I guess it isn’t a new thing after all.
Woodward is nothing but a partisan shill.
