Bernstein is a liar. I always harp on "Deep Throat". Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein did not want Deep Throat to reveal himself. They wanted him to wait until he died, then W & B would tell the story.

The reason? They wanted to spin a intrepid tale of journalistic heroism. The truth was they were willing dupes - stenographic hacks to a disgruntled FBI official who had an axe to grind with Nixon because he got passed over as replacement for J. Edgar Hoover.
