The U.S. military has identified the first two American troops from 55 boxes of human remains from the 1950-53 Korean War that North Korea handed over in July, the agency leading the analysis said on Monday.
The identities are expected to be officially announced in the coming days after the troops’ relatives are informed.

However, the sets of bones from the two soon-to-be-identified troops are far more complete.
“We noticed ... within a few seconds of opening up the box, and pulling him out, that we think this individual is African American and tall and slender,” Byrd said. “And that kind of realization that we have was made possible because of the relatively more complete condition (of the remains).”
The remains of both servicemembers came from the same 1950 battlegrounds near the Chongchon River in what is present-day North Korea. U.S. troops suffered heavy casualties there against Chinese forces that had intervened in the war.
“It’s a huge battle,” said Jin, who estimated that 1,700 of the missing U.S. forces from the war came from that fight alone.
She spoke above tables of bone fragments, still separated with numbers corresponding with the 55 boxes.

If they think it's such an easy process, why did no other administration ever bother trying?
I believe burying the war dead on our own land is a tradition (if I can call it that) that is unique to the United States.
A very, very honorable thing to do.
Just one of the many things that put us head and shoulders above everyone else.

Don’t forget the Cemeteries in other countries such as France where our military men are laid to rest. They are, in fact, lying in American soil as the land has been given to our country in perpetuity. The American cemeteries should be visited whenever possible as they are an immense reminder of the sacrifices made to keep this country strong and safe.
Speaking of cemeteries and American soil, many people do not know that Lafayette, hero of our Revolution, is buried in Paris and covered by American soil from Bunker Hill.
There are a whole bunch of kids in Manila who might wonder what you are talking about.
In spite of the headline no where in the article are the identities of the ‘two Americans’ revealed. Another example of how hosed up so-called journalism and editing is.

My scout troop was selected for the flag ceremony at the American Cemetary in Manila for I believe the Memorial Day recognition in 1966.
My Troop was 348 BSA Far East Council and foreigh Troop 1 PSA.
The non American scouts were sons of businessmen and diplomats in America. The troop was sponsored by the American School
