Don't know how many of the deaths have been the result of hostile action.

Obama said that Afghanistan was the war “we should” be in.

2,500 is a lot, but good thing the locals now all like us so much, and the USA now has all those precious minerals and local influence.

This is so much better than a Southern Border Wall.

Equally as bad, but W got us in there instead of nuking Mecca after 9/11.

It’s time we bring that last of our troops home. I don’t care about those people. We can’t commit the troops and materials to “win.” Aside from Rare Earth Minerals, there is no reason to be there. Oh wait...

Very true. Trump shouldn’t waste military resource on a non-productive southern border wall.

But hey we got a bunch of Chuck n Nancy spending deals and some legislation by pen... our faves. Since we are such good deal makers we will put soldiers out building walls... so the cartels can get some target practice in. We also have more H1Bs with the Citizen kids last policy that we can snuggle up to at night.
It’s raining money and jobs and we are still out shopping for wall samples, because the border is like a weekend home.
we have the means, but no will for a wall....and we should repeat this for how many years? It was the single reason for 2016, ignore that at your own peril.

And President Trump said we should get out of these adventures, but not on a timetable. Why the heck are we STILL in foreign misadventures and still not adequately protecting our borders?

Can’t leave Afghanistan now - it would turn into a terrorist hub with ISIS, Al Queda, and the Taliban running it. We didn’t play to win in Afghanistan, and this is where we are. Plus, the Afghan soldiers trust us & are fighting with us. They’d be slaughtered if we leave.

I'm not buying that argument. If all of those terrorist groups want to hang out in Afghanistan, not our problem. Just keep them out of the US.

Think of all of the resources and life that have been misused in Afghanistan and the ME while our border is still not secure and our infrastructure crumbles. We're going further into debt, perhaps to the tipping point. Those are primary factors in the fall of great civilization throughout history.

We also have many, many walking wounded. I’ve worked with many vets who at first seem okay, but once you get to know them it becomes clear that they are very much not okay. Undiagnosed brain damage is going to haunt this country for decades to come.

A family member - now deceased - was a strategist/researcher for the Navy. He had traveled extensively to the backwaters of the world, and everywhere I had been as a nonsked pilot he could describe like the back of his hand.

When asked about Afganistan, he said “It’s not a country, it’s a place between countries”.

(At a cost of nearly 2500 brave young Americans lost? The sand savages can all go to hell. I’ll take the wall, thank you.)
