I think I understood the context the Old Curmudgeon meant the comment in, though I suspect it sounded perhaps more acid than it was meant...but I didn't take it that way.

I viewed it as much the same way I feel about it...both comments "...That we do have a secret police who believe that they are accountable to no one..." and "...If this mindset is allowed to continue we will shortly lose our freedom..." are undeniably true...ESPECIALLY the first one.

They all thought (Obama, Hillary, Comey, Mueller, Strzok, Page, Clapper, Brennan, Feinstein, Schiff, frankly, all of the Democrat Party and a significant portion of the Republican Party) the laws that govern the FISA process were there to be bypassed by those like them who assert to "have the best interests of our country at heart"...or so they like to have the sheeple think. We all know it is about obtaining, holding, and exercising power over others.

The fundamental jewel on which our Republic moves is the Rule of Law, not the rule of men. If people think they are doing a good thing by ignoring or bypassing our law (instead of addressing it and changing the law) because they "think it is the best thing for our country" then we are not a Republic, we are a Banana Republic.

Now a thank you is appropriate.

I certainly agree with both of you.

I am past 90 and have always followed politics and I have never seen anything like what is happening in DC today. Way back when, we suspected it and saw some of the bad things but the old timers were much more skilled at covering their corruption and the public did not have the tools we have today to find out what was going on.

And it is people like you who make the new tools work for the rest of us.

After 28 years, a full generation, of the Bush-Clinton-Bush-Obama administrations Trump has revealed to the American citizenry that we ARE a banana republic. A glossy slick version, as in the movie version of the Godfather, “You can steal more money with a briefcase than with a gun”.

He is conducting the counter coup ... Whether this can be achieved without a bloody civil war remains to be seen, but the sheer breadth and mass arrayed against the republic IMO leaves me in doubt.
