Between Monday and Tuesday, MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell devoted two segments on her afternoon show to giving an unchallenged forum to environmental activists promoting the preferred liberal view that global warming is caused by humans and is making hurricane seasons worse, as Democratic Governor Jerry Brown appeared on Monday's show and former Vice President Al Gore on Tuesday.
Plugging the segment with Gore on Tuesday, Mitchell alluded to his film An Inconvenient Truth. Mitchell: "An inconvenient truth: As destructive tornadoes hit Virginia and flood waters continue to rise in North Carolina, Al Gore warning about the political costs of ignoring climate change."
Then came a clip of the former Vice President fretting: "Every night on the television news is like a nature hike through the Book of Revelation."
At about 12:30 p.m. Eastern, as she introduced the segment, she linked global warming to recent storms:
Hurricane Florence is the latest example of how warming ocean waters caused by climate change are endangering Americans from coast to coast. As the New York Times points out, this connection has has not been acknowledged by President Trump as he reverses President Obama's steps to reduce emissions from greenhouse gases.
In the pre-recorded interview, put together during the weekend's climate change summit, Mitchell referred to "climate change deniers" as she asked the former Vice President how he would respond to them:
Mr. Vice President, we're in the midst of a hurricane, the aftermath of hurricanes, all of the storms, storm surge based on rising sea levels. These storms are stronger than what we've experienced in the past. What do you say to the climate change deniers led by the President of the United States?
