The New Jersey Senate race was supposed to be a done deal with incumbent Bob Menendez easily cruising to re-election. Its rated solid or likely to remain Democratic by most election watchers, and the Democrats were certainly putting it in their win column as they mapped out plans to retake the Senate.
But someone forgot to tell New Jersey voters that this race was uncompetitive. The polls show it to be tight -- Menendez simply has not shaken Republican challenger Bob Hugin in a state Hillary Clinton carried by 14 points over Donald Trump two years ago.
Part of the reason seems to be that despite his acquittal in court on federal corruption charges, Menendez has not escaped the taint that came with his 2015 trial. Another is that Hugin, the wealthy former CEO of a biopharmaceutical company, had already spent nearly $16 million in the race. Throw into this mix a state with the worst affordability index in the country and an expected increase in the gasoline tax on Oct. 1 -- on top of significant increases in state taxes enacted this spring. It seems a combustible mix in which an attractive and well-funded outsider with a sterling resume can give the political establishment heartburn.

BUT< BUT, BUT there’s supposed to be this big, blue wave -—wah, wah!!!
I’ll be doing my part to rid my state of this vermin.
Wow....is it even possible?
It would great IF he was voted out.
“Only way to defeat some Democrats is with constant TV ads.”
True. A lot of direct mailings doesn’t hurt either.
Same here!
So when is the Torch Solution coming?
He steps down and the NJ Supreme Court allows them to substitute a new candidate on the ballot?

Problem
Lautenburg is dead
He is pulling Menedez with ad after AD. Barteletta is doing the opposite, no ads at all.
I’m voting for Bob, too. I worked at the company where he was CEO, he’s a smart business guy; RINOish but better than the alternative.
It is possible
Not everyone in New Jersey is a hard core leftist
In fact, very few are.
Menendez is a crook and a weirdo, the moderates don’t like that.
I saw the south Jersey poll that has Hugin up 10 points, that is good, however, South Jersey means Jack in statewide elections, all of south jersey easily gets cancelled out by Hudson county. So it doesn’t matter
where to look, Middlesex county, old suburban neighborhoods, moderate people, union supporters, once they start plugging their noses to the stench that is Menendez, he is in trouble because that is what they are doing.
Ocean and Monmouth will go Hugin, as well as South Jersey
Possible Middlesex is tilting/soft towards Hugin
If Menendez is soft in Burlington and Mercer, its over
That is how Christie won
New Jersey might be a blue state, but it isn’t 100% reliable blue, its no California. Democrats put up some corrupt POS with a pervy background and the moderates will run from it like it was a turd in a punchbowl.
Rich Pezzullo in House District 6 is making a huge push against Frank Pallone as well. THAT would be one hell of a sleeper as well! Interesting times in Joisey.
And just when has that ever been a problem for Democrats?........They have elected dead people before............
It should be my last vote in NJ!
here in Ohio, Renaci is AWOL. Brown is going to get away with another dishonest campaign.
Hugo is a ferocious pro abort..so it’s a non starter for we few conservatives in the Garden State
My folks are in cape May
The alpaca farmers
Cape May county is solid R

)
Vote against Menendez for his voting record on all issues.
RUSH: Look, my Ed Zschau theory is all wet anyway because we dont know how he would have voted. Six Republicans voted against Bork, including John Warner. I have since grown and learned from that, so disregard my stupid theory back then.”
