Who among you would even consider emigrating to another country w/o being at least somewhat fluent in the native language ?

Federal officials will likely reject legal migrants’ requests for visas or green cards if they cannot speak English, says a draft regulation from President Donald Trump’s Department of Homeland Security.
“English language proficiency is a skill that also is relevant in determining whether an alien is likely to become a public charge in the future,” says the draft “public charge” regulation. The regulation is intended to help officials exclude migrants who will likely rely on American taxpayers for their health care, welfare, housing, and wages.
The draft regulation says:
People with the lowest English speaking ability tend to have the lowest employment rate, lowest rate of full-time employment, and lowest

English should be the official language, and all government business and all government forms should be English only.

Good. If they aren’t interested in speaking our language, they aren’t interested in being a part if our culture.
I’m OK not being able to visit Ol’ Mehico if I can’t speak Mexican.
I’m sure many will gripe and say racist etc but I’m glad if this becomes necessary for any one coming here. I’m tired of hearing so many other languages when I shop etc from the employees and some even tell me they cannot help me because they don’t speak english! how do they get hired in a customer service job if they can’t help the customers?
That goes for phone based customer service at businesses too. I just immediately ask for an english speaking person if the person who takes my call has too poor a grasp of the english language for me to understand it easily.

I have never understood why you are supposed to be proficient in English in order to become a naturalized citizen, yet voting ballots are translated into dozens of different languages.

Some will decry that this is unfair. It would be unfair if applied to citizens. But this isn’t about citizens. If you want in, you have to show that you don’t exhibit qualities that destine you to be a ward of the state.
My brother-in-law used to live in Germany. He had to pass a German fluency test in order to get a residency card.

President Trump is constantly criticized for trying to put America back on its proper and constitutional course.
Somewhere in the past our federal government went off the rails.
The Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 (aka the Hart–Celler Act) is a glaring example of that fact.
Elected officials and bureaucrats ignored or forgot that their job was to represent the American people and serve the needs of America.
They got themselves twisted around and started representing foreign populations and placing the needs and wants of foreign countries before thos of America.
Now those who want to restore America to a country of Constitutional law and order, and place the interests of Americans before those of illegals and other foreigners are lambasted by the left and called racist and worse.
As easy threshold, no speak English, leave. Add to list:
(1) No English, (2) Need assistance, and (3) Illegal history. These three should be key criteria and lead to immediate and permanent deportation.
Sounds like another reasonable, rational rule to me.
Get on with it. Make it last as long as possible.
The study that says illegals are not 11 million but 22 million is still wrong. It was 11 many years ago, before more than a million a year flooded in for more than 16 years or more. Il think it is more like 32 million. IF thery were all deported it would make a HUGE difference in how most of us live. It is businesses that are afraid of losing these leaches that subsidize their businesses. The pubbies have a built in conflict of interest and the demonrats have a nefarious self-serving motive to keep them.
What I fear is Trump saying one thing and ICE doing another.

Violent aliens
Criminal aliens and immigrants
Immigrants and aliens who are feeding at the public trough
Visas denied for those who do not speak english
Trump is gradually tightening the screws.
