I've been displaced by Indians on several occasions. I still like them. Go figure...

Of all the Third World residents I think the Indians are about the best. They admire Westerners and try to emulate us as best they can.I'd much rather live next to an Indian than to a Guatemalan.

Somehow I think we’ll be OK.

Yep, the problem is coupled with age discrimination. I think it comes down to health insurance costs more than anything. It sure isn’t capability. In my personal experience H1-Bs are usually not competent compared to most home grown (when it comes to problem solving especially). But alas, the bean counters don’t understand tech well enough to understand or maybe just don’t care.

I’m next door to Frisco as well. Housing market is not great for sellers and I’ve been wondering if the H1-B crack down is causing some of the decline.

True that, I am seeing a lot of what you posit on LinkedIn and the demand for talent (so called) from India and that region is waning. In my experience in many decades in high tech they are not good creators of new things, moreso in programming what they are told. This is all part of the COB (Cost of Business) and paying less to programmers to do remedial work versus US employees who by virtue of being from here are not as easy to exploit as it pertains to pay and benefits. Additionally Canada has never been a hotbed of new product innovation that I have seen, and any dreamy dreams that it will be is pie in the sky.

Great insight Mr. Jeeves. I hear this, too. The problem is that now they've raised requirments for graduates to have masters degrees. American students are either paying out of pocket or delay getting a masters to work and pay off college debt. The foreign students are often subsidized and either arrive with a masters or have it paid for here.

Americans can't afford to compete.

The H1B program is a national shame and a complete disaster for American STEM workers.

It needs to be crushed along with anyone who promotes foreign over domestic labor.

Take them all, please. Time to put our graduates & 35+ folks back to work.

Here’s something that will backup your claim. In my inbox, I found an “urgent requirement” for an Apple Developer in Dallas for 6 months... $30 per hour Corp to Corp, with no expenses covered.
