What is behind the Israeli high fertility rate

Civilized nations know where babies come from and can control their growth if they so choose.
Why is Israeli population growth an issue when the surrounding countries have no apparent control of what they're doing?
Israel manages to successfully house and employ their own people while the other ME countries are exporting millions of "refugees".

Mostly religion. Observant Jewish people in the United States have a high birthrate, while secular “Jewish heritage” people do not. In Israel, even the non-religious have larger families, so that’s the “nationalism” part.

Bravo for Israel and their high reproduction rate. Ever since I heard a hippie globalist at the first ever earth day speak (1970) and warn us that all the earth's resources would be depleted if we didn't limit population growth, I resolved then an there to father more than the two children to which he told us we were "entitled." Ironically, back then, they told us the result would be global freezing, not global warming if we didn't get with their program. And, yeah, it smelled like BS even to a callow 17 year old.

Unfortunately, it was more than a decade later before I met my wife and she was older than me with a ticking biological clock and the desire to start a family even stronger than mine.

It was 10 months before we were able to conceive and it wasn't for lack of trying. And, yes, the trying was a lot of fun and very thrilling, but we wanted that baby. We went to a specialist who gave us a little advice on technique and Viola! We were PG one month later.

Three beautiful babies in three years, eight months. But the third time, we were told any more would endanger my wife's health/life and we should stop. But at least we had given the finger to that globalist hippie.

We've had the opportunity for world travel (and even residence), have made good, though not great money and have, at times, limited career advancement opportunities because the negative impact on our little girls was too much.

But we don't regret it because we agree with the Israeli view-- children are gifts from God. It doesn't hurt to mention that the pleasure we get from Grandchildren is worth more than the fancy "stuff" we could have spent our money on instead!

Islam also has a high birth rate, and hot chicks in the islamic world are few and far between. I’m not saying there are none, I’m sure there are some. But they a generally so ugly that the tradition arose to cover their ugly *sses up.

Correct. And the not so well-kept secret is that married Christan men not only get higher quality whoopie, but more of it.

Whenever some hippie points out that people in modern countries use more resources than those in $#*+hole countries, I counter with these two arguments:

1. We are entitled to have just as many children and just as much sex as people in third world countries.
   
2. Even if we consume more, we produce a whole lot more. When was the last time you saw a third world country with a bountiful agricultural harvest, a reforestation initiative or the ability to employ even 75% of its population?
