The events of the last two years show that Americans know how to choose up sides and fight each other. But if we had to, could we put aside our differences and fight together?
We are about to find out. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, we are running out of time.
This is not a hoax. It is not a theory. It is not a natural cycle of warming and cooling. It is a man-made catastrophe that demands a national effort unlike anything this country has seen since World War II.
As in 1941, whats required now is leadership. After Pearl Harbor, President Franklin D. Roosevelt delivered the bad news to the nation and called on it to rise up in its own defense.
This report should be our Pearl Harbor moment. Unfortunately, President Trump was dismissive when he was asked about it, saying he would have to see which group drew it, alleging that there were other equally valuable studies that say we have nothing to worry about.
This president thrives on division. He can provoke a reaction from his opponents and rely on a backlash from his supporters. His campaign-style rallies are designed to delight the people in the room and infuriate the ones outside. He keeps his base of supporters on board by making sure he never has to deliver anything to them that they would consider to be bad news.
Those are political tactics that might win an election or dominate a news cycle, but that approach cannot be used to fight an existential threat like climate change.
This is not just an environmental crisis, its a test of our ability to govern ourselves. We will soon find out whether this generation can respond to its Pearl Harbor moment.

Such hyperbole

More like our Tooth Fairy moment
The crap they write in Portland.
If liberals want to die, fine. Not on my dime.
The West coast is lost.
So, should we round up climate deniers like we did the Japanese and put them in internment camps?
The basis that any effort projected by the race of Man can affect the climate of this incredibly massive and NOT FRAGILE planet is not only mind shatteringly wrong but demonstrates such ego it’s near projectile vomit.
Honest question to all: how many more “last chance to save the world” fake climate rapture deadlines will we have to blow through before they finally give up?
Mother Nature is doing all the work and shes not getting her cut by Dr. Algore and the rest of the climate hoaxers!
I had some discussions with people about climate change.
They’ve never been able to answer questions about how much climate change is man-made versus how much is due to natural cycles we can’t control.
They’re clueless if I ask how it is that the Earth has had many ice ages in history, and how periods of global warming end of those ice ages.
They seem stunned to ponder that natural cycles have caused and ended ice ages.
They seem stunned for me to suggest, that even if there is climate change happening now, it could well be natural cycles that we don’t understand and can’t control anyway.
Global warming and climate change is a religion to some people. They are accepting things just based on faith not based on any facts or scientific research.
Another Pearl Harbor? Yes, as in sneak attack.
LOL! A true believer.
Name one “solution” to glowbull warming that is not exactly socialism.
None?
I detect a subterfuge.
How many tons of CO2 does the Google data centers produce every year? How about those Apple factories?
To the UN:
I’ve got some beach-front property in South Dakota to sell. . . .
Oh UN...BS!! Climates change all the time. Where’d the Ice Age go?? And no amount of taxes you wanted to steal would have stopped it.
I got into a discussion with a woman supposedly a biologist of some kind — sea mammals I think -— global warming person -—and I asked her about rising seas, as to why shorelines haven’t changed, islands have not been inundated, and she said some had, that the sea was higher in some places than in others. I said ‘that’s not possible’. We had to stop discussing it. It was at a barbecue.
Liberals have been saying in alarm the world is going to end at any moment. Thats what theyve been saying since the 1980s and were still around.
