I've always heard many rumors about the food in the military that even going way back to ancient Roman times. The officers gets the best grub and it gets downhill fast from there.

I think the modern concensus is that the meals are kinda decent though the top brass still have a mindset that the troops should have enough calories to get the work done, but keep the food so bad that it keeps them fighting mad
