I’m curious: after the 2004 - 2005 hurricane season FL mandated numerous infrastructure upgrades to lessen the impact of a hurricane.

One of these upgrades was each cell tower had to have a generator.

Are you all finding cell communication easier? I realize that the towers themselves are probably overloaded with connections but at least they should be active.

My cell phone, Verizon, went out during the hurricane. It came back on maybe 15 hours later. It came on well before the power came back.

I believe I heard that the outage involved optical cables near Tallahassee.

People from Panama City and affected areas were driving to Walton County next county west to get cell signal. I saw them along the side of the road when we rode our bikes to PC Saturday to check on our relatives.................

On Wednesday and Thursday, we had no or very spotty cell service. I have Verizon. Since then, it’s been ok, but I am about 40-90 miles away from the hardest hit area in Florida.
