“Paranoia”: Dems starting to worry about blowing the midterms; NBC: Early vote totals “stunning”
HotAir ^ | November 5, 2018 | Ed Morrissey

Just remember, it’s not paranoia if they’re really out to get you. In this case, though, it’s likelier to be paranoia than prophecy. The Daily Beast reports on the existential angst facing progressives if they come up short in their bid to win the House:

"Nearly two years of organizing, marching, candidate recruitment and unprecedented fundraising has led the Democratic party to a critical moment. On Tuesday, it can either reassert itself politically or fall short, prompting an utter and complete psychological meltdown.

Most in the party believe that the path they will go down will be the former; that they will gain a majority in the House of Representatives for the first time since former President Barack Obama’s first term. But paranoia is part of the Democratic DNA, especially after the shock of the 2016 election. And in the final stretch of the midterm campaign, a scenario in which the party is unable to flip the requisite 23 House seats looms in the dark recesses of the mind.

“It will be paralyzing for a while, it will,” said Neera Tanden, president and CEO of the Center for American Progress. “Candidly, I think there will be a fair amount of soul searching and people will feel back on their heels… We will have to rebuild. But the resistance is built on opposition to [Donald] Trump’s extremism. And the more extreme he is, the more we will have.”

Or, as veteran Democratic strategist Paul Begala put it: “After all this work, all these volunteers, it would be absolutely shattering.” "

Let’s say they do lose this opportunity. It might be “shattering” for progressives like Tanden the CPA because of their insistence that Democrats had to embrace a hard-Left agenda to become competitive. It would spell the end of Nancy Pelosi’s career, one of their House champions, and it might force her entire slate of leadership to give way to more moderate leaders from the Midwest and Rust Belt, where Democrats have had trouble competing. They might need to rethink their DNC leadership too, but Democrats won’t be “paralyzed” any more than Republicans were after losing in 2006 and 2008.

ETC...

But the polling data does not make sense...

I was looking at the NYT polls yesterday. Their data included the number of calls made and the number of responses. Their success rate was in the range of two or three percent. They were making 15,000 to 30,000 calls to get 500 people in their sample. It is no wonder that the polls aren't reliable. I think telephone based polling is dead. They still report a margin of error with their polls: That's just laughable at this point.

The sad thing is that it’s even close.... based on the lunacies of the Leftards they should be getting blown out by overwhelming margins. The Mediascum propaganda lies keep the Democraps in the picture, but Trump MAGA has changed the trends for the better.

Mixed feelings? Nope not here. Evil has to fail. Every time and totally. I have no gray area on that.

That’s what people with sense might do; if their message doesn’t work, consider another course.

In leftylogic, the course is always right and above question; the *people* are suspect for not lining up for their own destruction. If (when, God willing) they lose again tomorrow, they will redouble on hate and escalate on sedition.

I’m feeling pessimistic about FL Gov and Senate races. I’m not sure about other races.

In past elections I would split my ticket. I always voted republican for state and national elections and rarely for the libertarian as a protest vote against the Rinos. If the election was remotely close between the Dem and Rep I would of course vote for the Rep and not the libertarian.

Sometimes I would vote for a democrat in a local election if he was of worth in my community and showed good faith to local issues and beliefs.

Today the democrat party has been taken over by left wing extremists even down to the local level. Voting for me today is simple. I just vote the straight Republican ticket.

I am a philosophical hard core conservative libertarian. Libertarians do not win elections thus my republican vote. I look forward to the day Libertarians are a major force in the Republican Party.

I can’t tell you how offended I am by the Left’s affectation that they are part of a Resistance. My late sainted mother was part of a real resistance in Denmark beginning in 1940 when she was 13. She was almost caught twice until my grandfather stepped in and put a halt to her activities. That was a real resistance against real tyranny with lives on the line.

The bravest man I have known is Henry Nezondiet. He lived in the South of France in WWII. He was part of the French Resistance. He was but 16 years old and knew the mountains and trails on the French Spanish border. He lead downed pilots and air crew to Spain so they might fight again. If he was captured he would have endured horror and death as would his whole family. His father was also part of the resistance Henry just followed in his father's beliefs and bravery. Fortunately they survived the occupation of France.

That is true resistance!

For the life of me, how can someone vote DeSantis and not vote for Scott? Such a hard-working man. What the hell has that old goat, Nelson, ever done in the senate? 42 frickin years, and he still gets votes. I so do not understand people.
