They want to, and in vain, perpetuate a system not dissimilar to what was in the Soviet Union and East Bloc. Like what happened there, it is showing signs of rot and corruption and will eventually collapse under it’s own weight and contradictions.

An old missionary told us years ago the reason that the communists in South America would kill and persecute the Christians. The reason: Christians were content wherever they were, and the communists needed the populace to be unhappy and agitating for change.
"How could a majority of Americans, even in the modern era, be attracted to a party whose rallying cry is not a better economy, a stronger America, enhanced freedom and prosperity, or a more wholesome culture but purging the nation of a president it abhors?
Great question, but I fear sadly for many reasons, it has become the case. Perhaps close to the top of the list is the accomplishment of dumbing down of America through the inept public education system. In that vein "we the people" have voluntarily jumped into the cesspool of what our first President warned us against doing. George Washington, in his farewell address, time and again, warned of what would happen should we place our allegiance with political parties ahead of the Republic itself.
