The First World War was a very bloody mistake.

Serbia SHOULD have given up Princip. The Czar should not have honored the pact with Serbia given this outrageous act. If a Volgan German had assassinated the Czar and fled to Germany, would the Russian acted any differently than the Austro-Hungarians?

No.

And did you know that King George V of Great Britain, Czar Nicholas II and Kaiser Wilhelm II were all first cousins?

That why they look so much alike:

All grandsons of Queen Victoria.

Think of a Europe WITHOUT Adolph Hitler, Vladimir Lenin and Josef Stalin! All direct products of this stupid war.

My grandfather fought in World War I - he experienced a bad mustard gas attack - his health was compromised. He served as a Judge for many years after that time but died fairly young - between the time my older sister was born and when I was born.

Today is the one day of the year that I wear my “ASA in Vietnam” hat. It always saddens me that my old Army unit no longer exists, but a lot of vets probably feel the same way.
