Kyrsten Sinema Defeats Martha McSally In Arizona Senate Race
Daily Caller ^ | November 12, 2018 | Jason Hopkins

Democratic congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema has emerged victorious in Arizona’s hotly contested Senate battle, helping her party make gains in the upper chamber of Congress.

Following a hotly contested race where both candidates lead in differing polls, Sinema — Arizona’s 9th Congressional District representative — has defeated Republican congresswoman Martha McSally after nearly a week since Election Day.

The back-and-forth election saw both candidates take the lead at different times before the November elections. McSally trailed Sinema for much of the beginning of the campaign, but saw her numbers rise after Sinema — a former activist against the Iraq and Afghanistan war — dealt with numerous embarrassing headlines emanating from her past.

McSally originally led in the vote count. However, Sinema was able to rack up mail-in votes following Election, eventually surpassing her Republican opponent.

Before becoming a U.S. representative, Sinema was involved in numerous protests against the war in Afghanistan and Iraq, with some of her past actions resurfacing. In 2003, a group she co-founded distributed flyers that depicted U.S. soldiers as skeletons. During a radio interview in 2003, Sinema is on record saying she didn’t care if Americans took up arms to join the Taliban. McSally, on the other-hand, was fiercely attacked for her vote in the House to repeal Obamacare, a law she has long criticized.

“Well, Sean, I did vote to repeal and replace Obamacare on that House bill — I’m getting my ass kicked for it right now because it’s being misconstrued by the Democrats,” McSally said in an interview with Sean Hannity in late October. The Human Rights Campaign 2018 Los Angeles Gala Dinner - Show

The Real Clear Politics average of polls gave McSally a one-point lead in the run up to Election Day. While all within the margin-of-error, three of the latest surveys included the RCP average showed McSally ahead.

The Associated Press called the election on Monday night.

McSally took to Twitter to concede and thanked her supporters.

Sinema is an outright nut job. From what I have read about her, worse than Kamala-la-la-ding-dong. This is just a damn shame. One hundred Senators from the entire nation, and we have the likes of Sinema, Menendez, Harris, and that dipsh*t from Washington Patty Murray. Worst political class EVER!

"Also did not help that Ward and Arpaio did not endorse McSally, very disappointed in both of them."

It must be a e-GOP thing, here in MI Bill Schutte didn't want his challengers who endorsed him to campaign with him in their areas. Talk about stepping on your own ***k.

How can PDJT be such a winner and we have a bunch of sad sack looser.

Any person who supports abortion is a child abuser and a cold blooded murderer! God will see fit as to their judgement!

As of this time of posting, Fox News announced McSally’s concession just after monitoring Nark Levin talkie sign off.

McSally lost by about 40,000 votes. Unless the vote counters in Maricopa decided to go big with the fraud, I figure Sinema won fair and square by at least 20,000 votes. Just my guess.

Sad.

Republican Governor won by 325,000 but McSally lost by 32,000? Something fishy here.

A colleague of mine at work falls in this category. Voted Ducey, and also voted Cinema to "put a check on Trump" as she put it. She is a somewhat right of center independent. Says she's not a fan of Trump at all, did not vote for him and 'has no respect for him' but did respect George W Bush. Tomorrow I am going to press her on it. What exactly did she mean by 'put a check on Trump' ? Specifically what ?? It was a surprise to me because she seemed to be in general agreement with Trump's policies and yet she voted against a candidate who would have supported his agenda. I am sure it applies to a lot of other women too who let their emotions get in the way of their reasoning.

This was McCain’s revenge.

All I can say is, “Enjoy the Suck, Arizona”.

well McSally gave up quick. she shoulda stood her ground and spoke out about some of the questionable things going on in counting votes and all. I don’t think she really wanted to win. Maybe she’s off Trump’s list of people he likes because she is a loser now, and he likes winners?

McSally was the establishment pick of McCain and McTurtle, but when she needed establishment support and needed McConnell to speak out for her and get behind him, he crawled under a rock like he didn’t give a damn that she was getting steamrolled by the democrat hucksters in Arizona. Then instead of raising hell today she herself rolled over. It all stinks to high heaven.

we don’t call it the Surrender Party for nothing. The GOPe earned that sobriquet the easy way. They quit.

I don’t think he will lose. And there has been a criminal investigation launched in Cheatin’ Broward and PB, hopefully by people not beholden to Broward and PB.

If the investigation gets warm, Cheatin’ Brenda Snipes and Cheatin’ Susan Bucher (PB) just might say, “Better luck next time” and give up.

She wasn't a limited government type.

Married allegedly due to advancing her career (Were each other's beards with that Lt. Col).

Fair or unfair, the lady never remarried which brings speculation that she "plays for the same team" exclusively. I guess the Arizona blue hairs in the gossip community prefer an upfront bi-sexual instead of "allegedly" a closeted lesbian.

Again her centrists voting record, people excused McCain because he was a relic and an "institution".

Flake is an opportunists but votes accordingly in high-profile legislation (Democrat in subtle ways the blue hairs don't pick up).

Speaking of blue hairs, they love to play contrarian to their husbands, ex-husbands, and their dead husbands.

In short, McSally was a weak candidate who got dominated by "that shiny new thing" which attracts pre and post menopausal females who vote.

McSally caved to fraud, she needs to find a job and stop taking up space on the ballot.

See if she can define precisely the kind of check she wanted to put on Trump, apart from the generic “checks and balances” blather.

After all, the GOP could put their own checks on Trump by aligning with (relatively) sane Democrats to write a veto-proof revision of the Trade Adjustment Act to keep Trump from tariffing our economy (and our poor) into oblivion, for example.

the count isn’t complete. 143k left in Maricopa, so SOS could change.

Right now 5022 more votes for SOS (up by 5667) than Gov - is it possible ?

McSally underperformed in areas were she was strong with the (WTF Arizonians, Florida has no penalties but understandable laws concerning deadlines) massive uncounted votes already teed up before election day started.

Also, McSally wasn't that strong to begin with. The Bi-sexual wench was more interesting I guess. The next six years might change Arizonians’ minds though. Demographics look crappy in 2024 though.

What a shock! Found ballots change the result of the election. We knew the GOP candidate was finished as soon as those ballots were found.
