The Supreme Court announced Friday it will grant an expedited hearing on the Trump administration’s request to add a question concerning citizenship to the 2020 census. The justices set oral argument for February, converting what had been a narrow request involving one part of the case into a full grant of review.

Won’t there be a lot of not answering the door and slammed doors refusing to answer? And forms not sent in?

Illegals in California lie on their DMV forms and just check a box that they are US citizens, thereby automatically registering to vote. And, there are no consequences to lying.

***they won’t contribute to UNDESERVED Congressional Representatives and Electoral College votes going to their state***

The heart of the matter. Why is it so difficult for us to see what the Demorats openly shout: they want total power at any cost. When the battle is engaged too often our side runs away crying wee, wee, wee all the way home. MAGA!

How many House seats and electoral votes would California lose sans illegals being counted? I’ve seen some sources say two, others say six.

If doing this nerfs California’s unholy national influence, it’s a good thing.

I don't know the exact wording of the portion of the Constitution involved but unless it says something like "shall enumerate the citizens of the several states" DJT could very well lose this one.

Of course Constitutional scholars might have a different take.

Hopefully, past precedent will prevail.

That's right..you just reminded me.some time ago i spent times searching census records at a nearby Federal records archive center and one of the questions asked as "citizen of".Back 100 years ago the answer for some of my relatives was "US" and for others it was "Ireland".For one of my Grandmothers it was "UK" because when she was born all of Ireland was part of the UK.

Article 1 section 2 states "The actual Enumeration shall be made within three Years after the first Meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent Term of ten Years, in such Manner as they shall by Law direct."

Other sections of the constitution and amendment refer to the right of citizens to vote. Since the purpose of the census is to apportion representatives according to those who can vote, the need to count actual citizens is self-evident.

the law on the census 13 U.S. Code § 141 states
"The Secretary shall, in the year 1980 and every 10 years thereafter, take a decennial census of population as of the first day of April of such year, which date shall be known as the “decennial census date”, in such form and content as he may determine, including the use of sampling procedures and special surveys. In connection with any such census, the Secretary is authorized to obtain such other census information as necessary.

Counting citizens is necessary under the law and proscribed under the Constitution, the 9th circuit notwithstanding.

I certainly ain’t no Constitutional scholar but my limited command of English suggests to me that DJT may very well win this one.Of course if I’m correct to believe that the “Secretary” has the authority to include the question at least five Justices would have to act as interpreters of the Constitution rather than legislators when casting their votes.

House seats are a big deal but Electoral College votes are made up from this too. Blue states looking EV’s changes the math.

Even if we get 50% to not lie and either not answer or answer no, that still means we’ve cut nearly 20 million from the Demoncraps advantage.

Anyone who believes there’s only 11 million illegals in this country either voted for Clinton or I have 2 nice bridges in Manhattan that are for sale. Cheap. And they’re buying.

Oh no, a keyboard warrior implying threats. How libtard of you!

You’re the one who does not believe in discourse but would rather Zot than discuss, just like Antifa and their supporters over at DU.

What was it you took issues with specifically? I explained my position and you resorted to deflection.
