Wow! That looks like the ultimate in fear! You have NO idea where it’s safe and where it isn’t.

I have a friend who lives in McGrath, AK, deep in the interior. Wonder if they got hit.

Might have felt a little, but McGrath’s a good distance and a couple of mountain ranges away from Anchorage.

It did. You could see the female swaying back and forth on the floor under the desk. Terrifying.
To: ManHunter
I know. It’s quite a ways. Just wonder if they felt any of it.
He was recently in Anchorage. Not sure if he’s back home yet.

I hope Heather Hintze can parlay this into some national exposure.
She's cute and cool under pressure.

I have a cousin who was in Alaska during the good Friday earthquake. He and his wife were in a store and tried to get to a column that was only 4 feet away. They couldnt get there no matter how hard they tried.
I think this side of the pacific rim is now going ultra active. Best to keep a close eye at the plate off the coast of Ore and Washington. If that one pops, we will all know it west of the Rockies, and many east of the Rockies will feel it also.

I have a friend who was there in elementary school at the time. Not literally, but that’s how old he was.
Said he and his family were evac’ed by helicopter, so it was ‘fun’ for him being a 9 year old kid..................

Yipes! Nearly made me seasick to watch it. I read that the quake lasted almost a full minute.

Obama’s fault. He is trying to take credit for everything else.

I remember that day. We lived in NE Wisconsin and there were several loud booms. My mom was doing wash and she said that someone must be blasting stumps. Dad came home and called around to see who it was and nobody was blasting. Found out on the news that night about the earthquake.
Several artesian wells dried up in the area and some that didnt, ran milky white.

Short duration shaking - time between one “end” of the motion to the next motion. That would tend to indicate that it was fairly close to the epicenter.
Long duration shaking tends to indicate further away as the shock waves spread out further from the epicenter.

The bigger the Quake, the longer they last. (Can’t say always)
They can go on for several minutes.
Some folks having not ridden one out, may not realize this.
