I remember the 96 campaign.

Bob Dole only campaigned like the last week week and a half, like he really wanted it. I was friging pissed because he spent so much time like he didnt want to win.

Dole ran because it was “his turn”.

And because he didnt really want to win, it was the most milquetoast phoning it in campaign I ever saw.

Supposedly a whopping 49% of eligible voters turned out in 1996. That’s pretty horrific if true. Not that any election since has been so much better.
