I really hope this turns into a full fledged revolt and revolution. It would be apt since the French followed us in their revolution in the 1700s. Maybe the opposite can happen this time. I have sympathy for the common Frenchman whose plight against tyranny is shared with many throughout the Western culture.

To create a tax based on a fantasy shows the arrogance of Macron where he likely thinks the people out there are either too weak minded or too weak spined to resist.

But has it gotten to the point to where the average Frenchman will elevate the struggle past protesting?

President Emmanuel Macron says his fuel policies are needed to combat global warming.

Combat how, exactly? Taxes do two things: raise revenue and discourage the taxed activity. So unless Macron has some magic program he's funding, it's just social engineering and everybody knows it. And as any good little socialist can tell us, social engineering is something you do to somebody else. Preferably under the auspices of the state and anonymously because sometimes the mice don't like running in your wheel.

What is happening in part is that progressive environmental enthusiasms have foundered on a rock of contradiction: no nukes, no fossil fuels, no coal, no new dams, and natural gas produced by somebody else. All this enforced by a tax structure that prevents everyone from paying for what little is allowed. And a governing elite that jets halfway across the globe to preen in self-congratulation about how environmentally virtuous they are. I can see why the people are reaching for their vests.

Actually, Tear gas and pepper spray is a standard crowd control method for misfits that destroy property and creating mayhem all around.

We did not use this on the Anarchists and misfits in Portland, Oregaon, Ferguson, Missouri, St. Louis, Alburquerque, N.M., Baltimore, Maryland etc.

Partner, I did not know he had that bad of an approval rating which can only mean one thing is that Macron will not be around after the next election, we hope.
