US Lawmaker Suggests ‘WallCoin’ to Fund Trump’s Mexico Border Wall

Ohio Congressman Warren Davidson thinks crowdfunding may provide a solution to the controversial proposal of building a wall on the Mexican border.

And, perhaps more notably, he suggested using a cryptocurrency to do so.

During an interview with NPR’s Steve Inskeep, the U.S. lawmaker explained that he has already proposed letting the American public pay for the wall, which is opposed by Democrats but mades up a key aspect of President Donald Trump’s list of 2016 campaign promises. In particular, Davidson told Inskeep, he has suggested a private funding program wherein “the American people, or whomever should choose to donate,” (including residents of Mexico) would be able to fund the wall’s construction.

He went on to add:

“You could do it with sort of like a crowdfunding site or you could do a blockchain and you could have WallCoins, but you could raise the money and frankly if we get it right at the Treasury you could even pay with Mexican pesos.”...[snip]

Davidson is an outspoken supporter of the cryptocurrency space, having previously held a round-table event with more than 80 representatives from both the crypto and finance industries to discuss possible legislation for initial coin offerings.

Set up a fund to allow the public to donate. I’ll donate. Promise.

So let me get this strait, we are going let the dems control the budget and spend all our tax dollars on their pet projects while we have to privately fund the most basic of government functions?

I am sure the dems would be all for that. Next they will demand we do the same for ICE, Border Patrol and the military.

I call BS, I gave my wall donation last April 15th.

[Tax the money sent back to Mejico....]

Been saying that for years. 25% to 33%.

Put that on Mexico. That will get their attention, real quick-like.

Make it a fee of some sort. Collect it immediately at the source (like a Wal*Mart).

Pay for the wall and more money will stay in America. Win-win.

60,000,000 voters at $100 each equals $6 billion. Just sayin’...

I would donate as well...I bet it would literally explode overnight with funds. Only caveat; make sure the donations are not anonymous. Make transparency is of the highest degree so the left can’t claim shenanigans.

Why don’t we just do crowdfunding with real money? It would get built in no time.

I agree with establishing a “Fund the Wall” but don’t let a Bush and Billy Boy Clinton manage the Fund. Feds are still looking for the money that H.W. and Billy Boy Clinton collected for Haiti Disaster Relief.

If someone sets this up, I’ll donate $18.48 for each member of my family of six.

The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, which ended the Mexican American war, was signed in 1848.

"... the other half is also the congressional approval and permission to build it gained at the same time."

I don't think that is correct. IIRC, the Law exists since 2006 to build the wall. It's all about the funding that originates in the House. The problem for funding is 3 fold:
1. Bush was no big supporter and the House dragged its feet as usual;
2. Hussein soiled the Oval Office and gained a House majority, which of course wouldn't fund it;
3. Republicans took the WH, the House, and the Senate and have done nothing to fund it. I blame them most.

Of course, the incoming socialist House won't fund it.

My solution: Pres. Trump signed that outrageous bill from his own party to procure nearly 1 trillion for re-building our military. I say he divert a fraction of that and send the Army Corps. of Engineers to the border now."

Let some judge issue a Stay of Execution or Injunction and Trump just ignore it. The Judiciary has NO, I say again NO, authority over the Executive Branch when it comes to national security.

IIRC, USSC decided that the Presidency has the authority to allow which countries he deems problematic and not allow their citizens to emigrate to our Nation. The socialists (Liberal if you prefer) screamed about it being anti-muslim. Of course, none of them realized or promoted on their MSM buttboys that he didn't include Indonesia and Malaysia, which have the largest muslim populations on the planet.

I think I have an idea on how to get San Fran Nan, Schmucky Schumer and the rest of the ‘rats in Washington to fund the wall.

Some scientific group needs to do a study, preferably funded by a government grant, to show that the influx of illegal immigrants is causing an increase in Greenhouse Gases in California. This, in turn, is causing global climate change. And we all know who’s in favor of spending as much money as needed (and more) to combat the dreaded man-made climate change.

If you happen to read the San Jose Mercury-News-Times of East Bay, there was an article this morning about how glo-bull warming/cooling/nothing will cause the state to lose 80% of it’s annual winter run-off in the next 100 years or so. The link to the article is below:
