Because of the government shutdown that is looming, President Donald Trump plans to stay in Washington, D.C. First Lady Melania Trump is returning from Florida so the family can be together on Christmas.
“Due to the shutdown, President Trump will remain in Washington, D.C. and the First Lady will return from Florida so they can spend Christmas together,” White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement on Saturday.
The Senate plans to reconvene on Thurs., Dec. 27th. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said there will be no future votes on short-term spending bills, meaning the Democrats are going to have to come to a compromise with the Republicans.
Trump previously took to Twitter to remind Americans that he's working to come to a compromise.

He also made it known that he's not backing down for his border wall or immigration plans.

I would really like President Trump to pay a surprise visit to overseas troops and spend Christmas with them, but I understand If Chuckles Schumer’s temper tantrum prohibits this.
Bringing them home is probably the best Christmas gift ever.

Trump’s in his 70s and keeping up a heavy work and travel schedule. I think the troops can understand that he’s working hard for him without all the logistics and costs and wear and tear on him of going into some sort of war zone.
Sad. The POTUS works so hard for us, and can’t even enjoy Christmas with his family. He needs time off. He has worked non-stop to MAGA. He needs time off in the sun to enjoy a week of rest. Dam Swamp!
I don’t like to go too far down his train of thought, but parents try to provide safety for their children. A husband tries to provide safety for his wife.
There are some real similarities in government, in that our leaders are supposed to be people we can trust to keep this nation safe.
It is just unfathomable that any national leader could object to stopping illegal immigration. These people fighting Trump’s wall, they are facilitating the breaking of our immigration laws.
They are advocating for these people to come here illegally, and cause havoc inside our nation.
Our citizens are being killed and raped, our children are being violated by illegal immigrants.
Where is the responsible leadership?
Republicans aren’t even pristine on this.
It’s actually embarrassing to be a Republican at times.
Wake the hell up in Washington, D. C.
It’s gotten so bad WE have to donate to a fund in desperation to try and get a wall built.
