WH budget chief Mulvaney: Pelosi stalling negotiations; shutdown could last into 2019

Because Democrats politicize everything, it’s very likely that the current government shutdown could last into 2019, according to Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Mick Mulvaney, who is also the incoming Acting White House chief of staff.

In an interview with “Fox News Sunday,” Mulvaney said that House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., who will likely reclaim the Speaker’s gavel in a few weeks, is intentionally stalling efforts to negotiate and resolve the partial shutdown, which began at midnight Saturday and affects one-quarter of the federal workforce.

Mulvaney also insisted that POTUS Donald Trump “refuses to go along to get along” and is not coming off his demands for $5 billion in border security funding that would include construction of a portion of his long-sought wall.

Screw “negotiations” with Pelosi. The Bill passed the House.

Now the Senate had better pass it as written or keep the “partial” Federal Government Shutdown permanent.

IF the “Shutdown” weren’t being reported in the “Media”, I seriously doubt that anybody would notice or care.

2019? Shutdown can go to 2020 or even till the next elections as far as I am concerned. Under no circumstances should there be a surrender on border wall funding.

In the video Mulvaney says they await a counter offer to the 5 billion and might consider a number between that and 1.5 that dems have offered.

By a show of hands what would a Trump/Conservative victory number look like? Whatever would piss off the dem base the most would work for me. That’s usually an indicator.

But would freepers here like seeing an agreement of around 3 billion for now? We know it’s just the start of the 25 for full wall funding.

Pretty much. As far as I can determine, the so called shutdown has made ZERO difference to my life.

They don’t need her to pass a bill that already passed the House. Just sayin’.

All bills die at the end of the session, I believe.

The 5 is already a counter offer.

She thinks that she has a license to keep the government shut down because Trump says he’ll take the blame. But when you think about it there is no way Trump could be to blame because they did not even send him a bill to sign.

This could backfire on Pelosi and Schumer if Trump vetoes their bill in January and the Dems cant override the veto.

He should say, “Well, if we are going to have a shutdown anyway then I’m not going to settle for $5 billion. We are not going to do this again next year. The number is now $25 billion. “

Nope. Bills die when the Congress ends. If a new House wants to pass the same bill as the prior House they must go through the process again. The process may be very swift if there is a strong desire to have the bill passed. The bill goes to the Senate next. Note that if the bill originates in the Senate the same principles apply. They must re-pass the old bill before sending it to the House. Note that I am assuming that the Congress will obey that old thing called the “Constitution”.
