I believe neither. In this instance the potential for tragedy was clearly there — even with top notch weapons and equipment accidents can happen (recall USS Vincennes and flight 655, have family who were closely involved in the aftermath)

How much rah rah rah yay Israel would there be around here if they had greased a civilian passenger jet on Christmas? Understanding that it is a congested region with many flights at any given time, it is entirely unrealistic and asisine to say that anyone getting on a civilian passenger plane nearly anywhere in the ME, northwestern Africa or the western med should plan on potentially being shot at by Israel.

Come to think of it, the Russian aircraft was shot down by a Russian missile that was launched by Russia’s ally: strategic brilliance on display.
