Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin (D.-Ill.) is urging President Donald Trump to help reduce “shootings and homicides” in Chicago by increasing federal investment in housing, economic development, job training, education, public health and “community policing.”
“As you prepare your Fiscal Year 2020 Budget Request, I urge you to use this budget framework as an opportunity to support efforts to help reduce gun violence in Chicago, rather than scapegoating the city’s challenges to promote ideological political agendas,” Durbin told Trump in a letter sent on Dec. 13.
“I urge you to prioritize federal support and resources that will help Chicago reduce violence by expanding economic opportunities and addressing health and education disparities in the hardest-hit communities,” Durbin said.
“The number of shootings and homicides that Chicago continues to experience is tragic and unacceptable,” Durbin told Trump. […]

Go into Chicago with a strike force, round up all the known agitators and repeat offenders, put them in exile OUT of the Chicago area, and shatter all the networks that keep the gangbangers in business. This would involve the breaking up of a number of parts of the Chicago political machine, an entity that has survived virtually intact since the days of Dick Daley the First.
Not politically possible, but serious situations call for serious response. Dick Durbin would be the first to say that no,no, that is NOT what he meant by spending more dollars to bail out that morass that is Chicago, a seemingly bottomless swamp that makes DC look like a rainy afternoon at the park.

Baltimore also badly needed. Because the local government is too corrupted and you can’t do anything with it(besides giving money). Trump should make deal with all senators from trouble inner cities in exchange of the wall. And when he gets the wall, he should make a deal with them on drug policies. Everywhere you walk in Baltimore and some area in DC. You smelled pot smoking all over. It’s annoying. My liberal friend keep cursing about the legalized drug in the city and the crime. But they will vote for Democrat anyway. And they keep moving farther and farther from the cities. More and more Hispanic will move in your area. They are everywhere now in Northern VA.
