As a retired nurse, it drives me nuts to know that undereducated, minimum wage people are doing the sterilization of instruments in hospitals, as well as hospital cleaning, without being really well trained in the dangers of contamination. Not that some well educated personnel aren’t sloppy. It would take so little to give each one a 2 or 3 hour lesson in microbiology for laypeople, with the inclusion of some very graphic visual aids to press home the point, followed by return demonstrations using a product that will not wash off, unless it is scrupulously cleaned. Every time I visit a hospital, I cringe at the sloppiness I see.
