No surprise at all. If you watch TV and other media you would already know that all judges are Black females.

I went to high school with a girl who has been a judge for some time, and she is black. Although we would probably disagree on politics she was a hard working and able student. At times when I asked her opinions on personal matters I found her to be mature, soft-spoken, insightful and intelligent. I do believe in a courtroom she would give a fair hearing to both sides regardless of race, unless she has changed substantially since high school. I do know that she was exposed to a lot of good literature and some decent history courses at the prep school we both attended. She was NOT from a well-to-do family, and was from inner-city New Haven.
Her family sacrificed much for her, even throwing a well-mannered proper "dubutante ball" for her at the New Haven Park Plaza before her graduation. At the end, the mother led the group in proper Christian prayer. It was a classy event, with no crazy behavior, and reflected well on her and her family. I attended that party and was there until 5 am, even though I had Achievement tests at 9 AM the same morning. I aced them.
So yes, there are moon-bats out there, but there are also others who are well qualified. I am happy to have know several. Judge Angela Robinson (all 4;10" of her) was one of them.
