They sink a US carrier while Trump is POTUS and they will find their navy obliterated. They won’t even be able to launch a sampan.

Unfortunately, China can now beat the crap out of our military. They’re weapons are more sophisticated, they have more troops, and they haven’t exhausted their resources.

“What the United States fears the most is taking casualties,” Admiral Lou declared.

Yup the lesson since Beirut 83' is hit the US with enough casualties and they formulate an exit strategy.

And there are not nearly enough escorts to go around now for carrier battle groups.

China is precisely following the path of Japan during the 1930’s.

Probably not the smartest idea.

Sinking one of our ships could get China's Walmart card revoked. Then China would be in one H of a mess.

That seems to be the thinking of at least one Chinese “admiral” who delivered some rather incendiary remarks at a recent military conference. (We’ll get back to why “admiral” is in scare quotes in a moment.) Chinese Rear Admiral Lou Yuan suggested that if the United States doesn’t mind its manners, they will need to sink a couple of our aircraft carriers just to put us in our place. (news.com.au)

This Chinese Admiral should do the math:

14 Ohio Class ballistic missile carriers
24 Trident II missiles per sub
12 MIRV warheads per Trident (reduced by treaty, but do you feel lucky?)
475 Kt yield per W88 warhead (for comparison, Nagasaki bomb was 15 Kt)

4,032 very bad days

People have been predicting for years that carriers would be sitting ducks in any serious war between major powers. Since the U.S. hasn't had a serious military rival since the collapse of the Soviet Union, that's been a purely hypothetical question. But it may be so, and China is likely to build a sophisticated enough military to raise the possibility. Should, God forbid, it come to pass: we would then quickly discover whose submarines would dominate the South China Sea.

The death of the aircraft carrier is one of those questions, like the death of the tank and the last manned fighter aircraft, that boils down to a question of when, not if.

“What the United States fears the most is taking casualties,” Admiral Lou declared.

He said the loss of one super carrier would cost the US the lives of 5000 service men and women. Sinking two would double that toll.

“We’ll see how frightened America is.

———————-

Tell that to bin Laden and the Taliban

What America’s enemies should fear most is inflicting casualties on Americans and America.

President Trump is reminding the world of this which is the reason he is taking so much heat from our enemies, both foreign and domestic

A couple of thoughts:

1. If A/Cs are so easy to take out, why is China acquiring more of them?
2. Have they ever actually sunk one (even a simulated on) in a realistic live-fire exercise? Computer sims don’t count. Last time I checked, the last A/C carrier was sunk in WWII.

It’s easy to make outrageous claims (just ask the Iraqis). Backing them up with proof is another matter.

It is possible to heavily damage a CVN but to actually sink one would probably take 20 torpedo hits and/or a nuclear weapon.

Unfortunately The Chinese do have the capability to sink an American carrier. Those carriers are screened by other ships and themselves are armed with excellent defensive weapons. However given the sophistication of digital surveillance and state of the art stealthy shore to ship or ship to ship stealthy missiles ( which in China’s missiles feature the essentials of an American designed guidance system given to the Chinese by Bill Clinton) all surface capital ships are extremely vulnerable.

China is very vulnerable to a counter-strike. The admiral's enormous hat must be too tight.

Chinese Rear Admiral Lou Yuan, a fake Admiral who is the deputy head of the Chinese Academy of Military Science might be a fake deputy head who does not know military history.

The fake Admiral Lou Yuan needs to review the quote from Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto and remember 70 to 85 million Japanese died because of WW2.

Fake Admiral Lou Yuan needs to think twice before awakening the Sleeping Giant.

It’s clear we are in new cold war with the ChiComs. What will it take to convince Free Traitors™ the off shoring to China of our industry was and still is a disaster that they brought on us for no good reason?
