President Trump said Friday that he might declare a national emergency so that he could bypass Congress and order the construction of his long-promised wall on the southern border. “Absolutely, we can call a national emergency. I haven’t done it. I may do it. I may do it. We can call a national emergency and build it very quickly,” he said during a press briefing in the Rose Garden after a two-hour meeting with top Democrats about the government shutdown and border security. “It’s another way of doing it. If we can do it through a negotiated process, we’re giving that a shot.” Asked if that stance was a threat to Democrats, Trump replied: “I never threaten anybody but I am allowed to do it.” He also said he could seize private property from people who own land on the border “under the military version” of eminent domain, the law that allows the government to seize private property for public or private development and not face any court action.

the last I hear...and it was about a year ago....there were only 4 properties still involved in eminent domain proceedings.
I hope this doesn’t happen. Keep (part of) the government shut down as an object lesson that we don’t really need very much government.
Any more delay and it will be too late. Should have done 2 years ago. Birthright citizenship should’ve been ended too.

Nothing has been done yet, but just the thought placed in some weak politicians’ minds is enough to get the smug moving.
Trump probably learned this lesson dealing with all the complacent jerks in power in NYC.

I’ve never seen a “bums rush” stopped with a video-drone. Maybe Trump should use the Soetoro method of drones that are armed with Hell Fire missiles.

Build the wall around those properties. Cede it to Mexico.

(since it is a matter of national defense, he can do it for sure)
he could also put the country out of its misery by arranging the termination of the Mueller krap, too
he could also take actions to start draining the WashDC swamp too (cutting budget requests, requesting specific legislation to terminate non-essential and/or harmful agencies and programs, sequestering funds as authorized by law for same, etc.)
he can do a lot of very good things.. .any time he wishes to start in on getting them accomplished

Think about pandemics, natural disasters, war, terror attacks...all of which the executive has emergency powers.
