She’s my rep and I have to say I think the authors perception is accurate. She does a very good job of the “retail politics” stuff - working shifts at various companies, hanging out in the grocery store on weekends, doing the meet and greet. Very likable to the average nonpolitical person. She beat a Tea Party one-termer who argued about who was more conservative and didn’t get anything done, and given the sad state of IL Republicans, probably has the seat as long has she wants it.

I caught a short blurb on FOX Business channel tonight, where two of the commentators seemed to agree that many of the incoming House Democrats are more centrist than you might think.

I personally don't think there is a Democrat alive I would consider "moderate", but perception being reality, maybe things will turn out better than we thought with this Democrat house when it comes down to actual votes.
