There were many, many dumbasses on Free Republic that supported NN.

I support the concept in the sense that if Verizon is your ISP they should not be able to throw technical tacks in the rear-view mirror to prevent you from streaming Hulu instead of taking their TV service.

Nor should they be able to arbitrarily block your access, to, say, FR, solely because their management deems it a place for "hate speech".

Recent experience with Facebook and Twitter show that there IS a need for neutrality regulation in the online world.

That being said, the Obama version of NN was nothing but a huge Democrat power grab.

Has Verizon done any such thing? Even if they did you could switch providers. Unless of course your local gov gave a monopoly franchise to Verizon. But then NN wasn’t going to address that issue.

NN was a Trojan horse to let the Fed take control and reimpose the Fairnes Doctrine on the right. It was never intended to address the issue you described.

I think what we fear is ANY HUGE POWER controlling our reasonably paid access to the internet. Be that government, ISPs or platforms.

We do want real net neutrality. I’m just not savvy enough to know how to actually get it.
