Thats because they know that the fed workers will eventually be paid, and therefore risk is minimized. With banks, its all about risks and profit margins (like many other businesses).

Exactly . . . which is why seven of the ten richest counties in America are within commuting distance of DC. No knock on PenFed, it gives me great rates on an auto loan and a savings account with a minimal military connection required to join.

It just shows that what these federal workers are going through is not even in the same league as when Jane or Joe Sixpack in flyover country lose a job.

If you or I skipped a payment, they’d be taking our home and car and everything else.

These folks have NOT missed a single paycheck yet they’re on tv crying about starving children and Santa not coming. Sure, no presents already wrapped and waiting to be put under the tree. Sure, not so much as a can of beans in the pantry but guaranteed mom and dad went out to celebrate the New Year and brought along a bottle of champagne. It’s not like they weren’t given fair warning. It’s not like they don’t make a nice living and SHOULD have plenty in the bank. They’re not living paycheck to paycheck unless they’re really super duper stupid. They’ll have their jobs and their paychecks when it is over. No one is hurting on this nice little paid vacation.

I don’t see any of them taking temp jobs. Oh, wait, those temp job paychecks take forever to get. They’ll have their regular checks long before.

In addition, if we in private industry were furloughed (laid off) for any reason, there would not be any back pay. Benefits would stop and then we would either have to collect unemployment, look for another job and wait until a phone call came telling us to report to work.

What does bother me is there will never be any recall or mention when previous government shut downs comparison impacts get reviewed over the impact they had. Of this;

Not dare refer to the most costly and disgraceful results from a “shutdown” that happened during Nixon’s presidency. Caused by the democrats refusal to stand by the Vietnamese effort to remain independent by refusing them air support and supplemental funding of arm supplies which would have prevented that loss and that humiliating disgraceful evacuation of our Saigon embassy.

Which quickly then resulted in a multitude of Vietnamese being slaughtered and the sacrifices of thousands of our armed forces paying with their lives assisting them in their fight for freedom disgraced.

Nancny and Schumer want to cry about the out of work government employees... whole towns disappeared in Rust Belt and Coal Mining areas and they didn’t shed a tear - but THEIR workers? Three weeks and Nancy and Schumer are breaking - here’s a solution:

Replace furloughed government employees with illegals willing to work under the table for ten bucks an hour?

Any liberal objecting can be called a ‘racist’ and a ‘hater’...

AND that allows Trump to keep the government shut down for years, saving money, and getting democrats to beg for a wall.
