Perhaps my attitude is wrong but I think this was wrong-headed from the start.

It is very important to me that the Wall is built.
But it is especially important to me that the GOVERNMENT build the wall.

Defense against foreign invasion. It's in the Constitution. I need to see my government care about that, and shoulder the responsibility.

While understanding your point, if for whatever irrational reason I was considering the purchase of a residence along the southern border, I'd prefer one along the privately built wall as another small, personal way of sending DC a big FU !

It is impossible to deny that the present government is both malfeasant and indifferent towards its fundamental responsibilities. Though some within still try, collectively it is an expensive, sullen ornament.

Stupid, wrong headline.

I received an email asking me if I wanted them to automatically forward my contribution to the 501(c)4 account OR refund my money. Painless and totally non-panic inducing.

We need to get the funding for the wall and it will be built. This President isn’t a haberdasher from Missouri or a peanut farmer from Georgia or an actor from California or a charlatan from Arkansas or an undistinguished law school lecturer and community organizer from Illinois but a professional builder with a history of success. He knows who will get the job done and he’ll put them in place to do it.

wrong-headed from the start.

I've donated without the expectation it would EVER get to even within eyesight of its $5B goal. And, I agree 100% with you that the "wall", whatever form it takes, must be paid for and built by the Constitutionally-mandated-to-protect-us Federal government.

However, the message it sent was worth the contribution price - Congress has been dickering with the issue for far too long without proper action. This GFM drive gave/gives them a little kick in the pants, get off their duffs and do it.

It bother's me to no end thinking they did nothing while running the House for 2 years, and what now, go into another wilderness epoch of no action? Well, this $20M GFM is another loud poke at 'em.

We will never have a wall in that case. This is not about border security to the dems. It is not about free dhimmicrat votes by the newly established dependent class. It is 100% about the existential threat currently embodied by Donald Trump, and the belief that shutting down the wall will crumble his support, and this threat must be eliminated by any means necessary. By hook or by crook, and 5 or 10 or even 100 billion dollars spent on judge shopping if that is what it takes, in order to goad trump into acting on an “impeachable” offense that the media will trumpet at volume 11 24/7.

I’m not a lawyer, but I don’t believe a private venture is capable of withstanding the multitude of lawsuits this project will generate.

I think the Wall must be government owned - it's an integral part of the government's duty and responsibility, and it must be manned and maintained by the government.

I donated when the money was intended for the wall directly. I’m suspicious of this redirect. Besides, private construction of the wall seems even more iffy than giving the money to the government to build it. Will it be part of the wall or some private property sections? Messy. Congress should do this directly.
