Trump Furloughed Me. Should I Take Up Pole Dancing?
New York Times ^ | 01/13/2019 | By Haywood Turnipseed Jr.

Monday, Jan. 7

5:30 a.m.

It’s the first full day I am furloughed, but I’m not sleeping in. My wife goes to a hot yoga class on Monday and she gets up at 5:30 a.m. to get there on time. I get up then, too, because she needs every light on.

6:43 a.m. The kids are awake and I’m getting them ready for school. I have to dress the 5-year-old in his school uniform; help the 7-year-old find his school pullover — “not sweatshirt!”; there’s a big difference — and keep the 3-year-old from destroying whatever she comes into contact with.

Usually I’m getting myself dressed, too. This morning, we’re discussing what type of language is appropriate to use at school when the 7-year-old asks, “Where’s your uniform, Daddy?” I tell him that I don’t have to wear it today, I’m off work.

“Is this like when you had jury duty?” he asks. I tell him this is different.

“Are you fired?”

“No, I’m furloughed,” I say.

“That’s a new F-word!” he says.

10:17 a.m. I work at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, on the telecommunications support staff. Some of us from work are in a group chat together. Usually, we talk about sports and current events. Today, we are the current event.

“Don’t watch the news,” someone says. We share advice on how to stay afloat while we’re not getting paid. Someone explains how to contact the mortgage company and request a month’s reprieve without incurring penalties; someone else describes how to contact utility companies.

I chime in to say that I am watching a “Sopranos” marathon on HBO. I should be cleaning out the gutters, but instead I’m clearing out the DVR.

Another co-worker says that I should cut the cord and get rid of cable

The Democrats voted against the Continuing Resolution and this sheeple blames Trump.
We are a nation of morons

Eggs-actly. The democlowns are the ones REFUSING to work on the deal. And, I suppose mrs furlough is going to the FREE HOT YOGA classes at the community center right? Oh, they don’t have that there. That’s odd. So maybe, since apparently she has time on her hands, she needs to be on the pole. Fidiots.

Even OAN ran a story on a “struggling” family because of a furloughed husband. THEY MAY HAVE TO DIP INTO THEIR SAVINGS!

A nation that refuses to protect its borders has no business spending a penny on an art gallery.

Mr. Trunipseed, who's nom de plume might be more apt than he realizes, should at least know these few things.

It is not "Trump's" furlough, as it is the America-hating, American-culture-hating, and America's security-hating Democrats who are responsible for his furlough.

He should also be gently informed that his alleged "writing" worse than merely tedious.

Do what Pelosi suggested to the rest of us when Obamacare got people laid off or their hours cut .... now you have time to take up your dream activities like photography, standup comedy, acting or gardening!

She was so bubbly and optimistic as she said these things, like getting laid off was an OPPORTUNITY! Be like Pelosi! Embrace the positive side of no paychecks!

Trump didn’t veto anything. Congress needs to pass the law first. He’s waiting.

If more government workers would instead do Pole Dancing, rather than DESTROYING the economy, the country would be MUCH BETTER OFF.

What is the federal government doing in that kind of business?
