Congressional Democrats on Tuesday rejected President Trump's invitation to a lunch meeting at the White House to discuss border security, in the latest sign that both sides of the government shutdown standoff remain entrenched in their positions with no compromise in sight.
A senior administration official told Fox News that the president had invited Democrats to join his lunch with members of Congress in the Roosevelt Room shortly after noon. But moments before the session, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement that nobody took them up on the offer.
"The President has a proposal on the table that includes additional technology at ports of entry, allows minors from Central America to seek asylum in their home country, and physical barriers between ports of entry made of steel instead of concrete," she said. "Today, the President offered both Democrats and Republicans the chance to meet for lunch at the White House.
Unfortunately, no Democrats will attend. The President looks forward to having a working lunch with House Republicans to solve the border crisis and reopen the government.
"It’s time for the Democrats to come to the table and make a deal."

Precedent no longer matters. We're on the verge of something really ugly, and the only thing that matters is a win that restores our borders. We need a wall. If President Trump can't have $5B for part of a wall, he should use the military and build the entire Wall: 1900 miles of the best possible barrier for the terrain in question.
Start with a double barrier of triple-strand concertina wire, patrolled to prevent vandalism, and lay that so fast that even an Obama judge can't stop that first barrier from going up. Then start building with concrete and steel, so deep that tunneling is expensive and so high that climbing is not an option. You can buy a whole lot of concrete and steel if you are not paying for labor.
After that, I want to go last-in, first-out on processing asylum claims on new illegals. The most recent criminals to cross get an immediate hearing. If they don't have documentation to support their demands for a place in our country and access to our tax dollars for welfare payments, deport them. If they have documentation, give them an NSA-level lie detector test. If they pass that, they stay; if not, they get deported.
Very few will want to cross if we set the bar where it ought to be and don't give them a multi-year window with free access to our jobs and government services. Once the influx stops, it will be easier to work through the illegals we already have and deport them too. Cut the overload on our hospitals, schools, and social services, and even many democrat voters will see the benefits of restoring the rule of law.
Yes, an RIF can be done, but I think democrats are counting on that, so the sob stories will escalate. And even though it’s THEIR fault, every news agency is going to lay it at the feet of President Trump, and though most of America knows the truth, the squeaky wheel gets the grease, and boy on boy, the democrats know how to squeak!
IOW, President Trump is probably going to have to declare a national emergency, or get much more serious political blowback.

I was disappointed in the speech POTUS gave last week because he didn't give the numbers to the American people. If he had listed how many of these "immigrants" are crossing the border, how many have know criminal backgrounds, how many have drugs strapped to their backs, how many are bringing minor children into this country to sell as sex slaves.
I think we need to start being brutally honest about who, and how many, of these people are crossing into our country. The human (sex) trafficking alone should give the American people pause -- at least, one would hope.
When can we start hanging these enemies of America who are literally getting citizens killed? (Rhetorical question, sigh.)

I’m a conservative and I live in the NJ/NYC area. A lot of Freepers think the entire east coast is all liberal. It ain’t. In the 70’s and 80’s I worked in a construction union in NYC. People got to know who Donald Trump was over time. They learned he plays hard ball, all the way.This guy is the master sand bagger. Keep your eye on him. He’s making them howl.
