When the Soviet Union overruns Poland and East Germany again then I’ll listen about the importance of NATO. Why stop with NATO when we need to leave the UN too?
We need to pull out because the real threat is coming from the other direction.
The EU is now a bigger threat to American ideals than Russia, which lost its ideologically based expansionism with the demise of its communist dictatorship. While Russia has needlessly picked fights with certain countries that were formerly part of the former Soviet Union, Russia no longer threatens Europe, or the USA, militarily.
They're opposing the pullback from Syria and Afghanistan on the same basis, which is what caused inveterate antiwar reporter William Arkin to leave NBC. They are absolutely dancing to Trump's tune and are too stupid to recognize it.

The UN should be in Paris. It’s the natural place for it.

Imagine if the Yellow Vests in France stop protesting and start taking charge. The French police and Military are considered by an increasingly panicked Macron to be unreliable, and he gets help from the Werma..I mean Bundeswehr to put the deplorables down. What the Blue Helmet is our NATO obligation at that point?

Europe has been “taking care of itself” since the end of WWI (and the creation of NATO) by welching on its commitment to its own protection, and putting the money saved into social welfare programs. So essentially, the American taxpayers have been financing a gaggle of Socialist countries in Europe. And then having to listen to them cackle about how their “socialist way of life” is so superior to ours, and how they’ve “proven” that Socialism really does work! Yeah right, cut them loose and watch them fail!
Let’s leave the UN first.
Certainly old alliances need to be reviewed and revised in the light of present and anticipated new circumstances. All of them. On a regular basis.

If we were NOT in NATO, we would have never been involved in the dismemberment of Bosnia and Serbia (Kosovo) - which I STILL consider to be criminal actions, regardless of whether there were a few pictures of suffering babies.

All agreements should be bilateral. Even if they are identical. That should be an amendment.
