The SOTU add’y is a tradition, not a law, and Pelosi can if she wants cancel, or alter the schedule at will. NOT a good political move, but then the Democrats of late haven’t been noted for their caution that way.
The President can give an assessment of the SOTU from the Oval Office should he so desire to update the people on how things are going, but the Democrats will simply call him a liar no matter the road taken in advising the people.
It wouldn’t look good, or be politically favorable for him to cancel it altogether, but I’d imagine that’s what the idiot Democrats are trying to get him to do, or make it appear he is doing.

Trump can keep on framing foreign policy, appointing judges to the bench, reforming the regulatory framework, and in general running the country. The House puts forward no work product, 20% of government closes, and to be blunt no one other than the employees without paychecks takes any notice! The left rounds up some refuse that has been building up at the National Parks that few people are visiting this time of year and that’s the evidence of a crisis that they drop on the White House lawn. Wow.
