I think our standard of living is just too high to compete with these developing countries to ever achieve something like that.

We can however secure better trade deals. That's what Trump supposedly did with NAFTA and seems to be planning to accomplish with China. We will have to see how that goes.

Look, people can argue all sides of this issue but there is one aspect I would think there should be broad agreement. At a minimum we need to secure enough domestic production in critical areas for national security purposes. We have to get that addressed.
