So he gave the Dems a bridge to retreat on with dignity(which they will probably reject as already indicated). Supposedly his book on negotiations states this as a major thing that must be done in negotiations with the enemy.

He also told the Dems exactly what happens next if they do not accept.

For mindless Americans, he looks like he is willing to negotiate and bend. It give him the moral ability to drop the military builds the wall hammer at the end of the week. Monday he is past the 30 day shutdown mark and can fire gov. employees. Dems have been outplayed all around, they either negotiate and a wall happens or they do not and a real wall happens. President Trump knows Mitch McConnell is the enemy also. DACA and TPS were thrown in there and President Trump is betting that the Democrats will not go for them. Rush Limbaugh will say this on Monday also. I guarantee Pelosi and Schumer will reject this and President Trump will then be forced to close the border.

I think this is their last chance to compromise and save face, if not he will indeed declare an emergency.

I heard the entire speech. There are just 5 words that comprise its keystone:

“ONE WAY OR THE OTHER.”

If DJT says he will achieve his objective one way or the other, I am quite satisfied he will achieve his objective.

Trump's proposal isn't my favorite but it's a "reasonable compromise."

Nancy won't even consider voting on any part of it and Chuck calls it "hostage taking."

Chuck and Nancy are NOT SERIOUS. They are the party of obstruction, the party of NO.

Trump talked about bipartisanship and this as a downpayment to fixing the larger immigration system. Good for McConnell for putting this to a Senate vote at least.
