Sadly, this is happening in all Christian churches, including mine, which is/was Presbyterian. I think it is largely the product of the ministry providing a haven for draft dodgers during the Vietnam War - they found it a comfy life, didn’t have to work very hard, and the pay and benefits are often surprisingly good compared to what their predecessors got due largely to endowments left by longtime parishoners. In return, the can spout their leftist social gospel and damn the facts; the guy in my church would quote from news articles that were patently false, accusing conservatives of racism, etc. No evenhandedness or objectivity; got tired of the endless lectures and left.
There will be no rewards for deceit and lies told in churches today to seekers of God with whom they are charged to teach and protect. Encouraged my sister and brother in law to stop going to their church, five years ago, when I last visited. A lesbian couple seated in the middle of the pews were making out during the sermon, right there in church, so everyone could see and no one did a damn thing about it.
