The response to that question is to ask why did Mr. Phillips walk directly to me, stand in front of me banging him drum?
Mr. Phillips was the one who took the action to confront this young man.
Nick Sandmann was standing in place. Mr. Phillips was the initiator of the action. Mr. Phillips was the aggressive party.
BTW, Mr. Phillips gave two different answers. First he said he walked up to Mr. Sandmann to defuse the situation. (He did nothing to defuse the situation. He increased the tension by saying nothing and banging his drum.)
Second Mr. Phillips said he was just walking to the monument and Mr. Sandmann stood in his way.
Mr. Sandmann didn't stand in his way. Mr. Sandmann was standing in place.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that this Phillips guy has such a hate on for the Catholic church and these kids are from a Catholic school. I have a feeling he knew they were going to be gathered there, like they do every year.

Oh, but Phillips did have something to say about those guys. He said they were right about some of the things they were saying and that made these kids angry, which is BS.
Someone needs to ask Phillips what the black guys were right about. Where they right when they were harassing Indians all day? were they right when they told the indians they lost their land because they worship totem poles? Were they right when they called Phillips himself “Gad”, which means a false idol?
Phillips is actually a despicable liar and has to be called out for his BS.
I am sure that the young man was trying to be non-confrontational and very masterfully suppressed his laughter at just that slight smile.

The Indian was to blame. He doesn't like Trump so when he saw the MAGA hats he was itching for a confrontation hoping to incite violence. So he walks up with his silly child's drum and whacks it one inch from the kids face - The Indian was inciting violence and should be arrested.

The ones who were harassing the Covington Catholic kids were definitely saying hateful, racist, nutty stuff.
I have in years past found myself walking near some of them haranguing people in public spaces in NYC and Boston, at least I think it was one of these groups.... angry black men in funny costumes yelling about “white devils” and such.....
lol he was a “Freon Ranger”.... although apparently not a good one, since he never got promoted in the Marine Reserves and then never seemed to be able to make a living in the field in the civilian world.
