Border staredown – nation needs its dug-in leaders to step up and find an immigration compromise
The Albuquerque Journal ^ | January 27, 2019 | Albuquerque Journal Editorial Board

Posted on 01/28/2019 4:33:04 PM PST by CedarDave

Several hundred migrants climb over a small fence at the U.S.-Mexico border just after midnight. The fence, designed to stop vehicles, isn’t much of a deterrent. Some of the migrants toss belongings, while others pass children, over the fence.

This isn’t a narrative pushed by President Trump. It happened this month at Antelope Wells, N.M. The crossing was caught on video, and the video was released by the Border Patrol a couple of days after it happened. The group numbered 247. Less than 48 hours later, Border Patrol agents encountered another 115 at the same location. And just this past Thursday, more than 300 migrants turned themselves in to Border Patrol there.

Trump earlier offered temporary status for 700,000 Dreamers and 300,000 other undocumented residents in return for $5.7 billion in border security money, including for barriers. That’s an opening bid. But rather than come back with a counter, the Democrats – including our own delegation – insisted on playing politics, rejecting it out of hand because of their dislike of Trump.

There is no doubt a larger barrier – a fence or a wall – in strategic areas can serve as a deterrent to migrants who are choosing dangerous, remote places to enter this country. ...

Trump’s latest proposals no longer called for a “concrete wall from sea to shining sea,” but steel barriers in strategic places. And while Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi labels a wall “immoral,” Democrats have funded such border barriers before. ...

Despite all the posturing in D.C. and photo ops at the border, this is real life in New Mexico, folks. It’s time our leaders – especially N.M.’s congressional delegation – start compromising.

A hard hitting, scathing editorial from the Albuquerque Journal. Because of excerpt rules, I had to heavily edit it, but there is much more I left out: Drug trafficking by the cartels, the humanitarian crisis in providing shelter and medical care to the hundreds coming across where there are no barriers at all.

Notwithstanding the claims of our new radical left governor, there is a wave of people coming across that must be stopped, not encouraged. The liberal ABQ Journal recognizes this; how long until the new "progressive" Democrats now in charge do??

Americans are pretty much in agreement that the border needs to be walled and secured.

Liberals are putting Mexico’s interests first.

A group of 247 migrants crossed the border illegally in Antelope Wells and turned themselves in to Border Patrol agents just after midnight Jan. 16. The majority of those taken into custody are Central American parents with children and unaccompanied minors, according to Border Patrol. “...Liberals are putting Mexico’s interests first....”

Actually they are putting THEIR INTERESTS first. Flooding America with illegals to create a huge dependency class, changing the demographic of America, and just generating as many DEMOCRAT VOTES as they can.

With today’s RATS, it is all about POWER AND CONTROL. Nothing else matters.

How’s this for a compromise. Everybody from south of the border stay the hell out of my country and I’ll stay the hell out of yours.

Aren’t the ones who are starting out in Central America now going to encounter very cold weather? Are they nuts? I know how cold the deserts get in our country in the winter, they have to be frigid for anyone outside for long. Is the weather that much different where they’re coming from? I don’t know - simply asking! It has to be pretty cold for those still stacked up on the Mexican side of the border at TJ also.

Would someone make copies of this and give it to the New Mexico representatives and senators?

It’s a shame that our government idiots are so incompetent that they can’t even stop a bunch of single digit I.Q. freeloaders from coming in and taking over the country. Geez. What a disgrace. Shut the friggin’ government down again. Those ***holes aren’t doing their jobs. What does ICE do anyway?

The Journal sees what's going on and calls out the Dems:

But rather than come back with a counter, the Democrats – including our own delegation – insisted on playing politics, rejecting it out of hand because of their dislike of Trump.

Why do we have to compromise our country to fraudulently documented foreigners?

https://www.wthr.com/article/tax-loophole-investigation

Watch this and realize how much illegals take from us taxpayers. Illegals claim many children on their taxes. One claimed 20 kids and 4 families living in his trailer. Turned out he had a wife and one child. He got 30,000 in tax refund. How much do you get?

No, the last thing we need is a compromise. We need to do the job right.

Even Trump's plan is far too limited and while it will help a lot, it will be overall ineffective.

Any compromise with the Democraps and their D.I.A.B.L.O. Republican allies will make it as big a debacle as when we went through this with Reagan 25 years ago.
