I agree with your assessment, e-verify needs to be mandatory, if they can’t get jobs, many will self deport. Eliminate them out of welfare/government assistance as well

DACA ‘kids’, should only be available to ones already in the program and only to ones who have not been convicted of crimes. DACA can be a big win for us if we do it right and fair. And citizen ship is a 5-10 year process, which means they have to do everything it takes to be a citizen including passing test and learning the language. And get rid of chain migration. Their parents should not qualify. They are the real criminals in this and should not be awarded.

They need to compromise on DACA. The ‘children’ can stay if they meet the following requirements:

1. Have been self-supporting or have a sponsor to support them.
2. Have not been on public assistance.
3. Have not had any run-ins with law enforcement.
4. They cannot vote for 10 years.
5. If they become a public charge at any time in the future, they are deported.
6. They MAY NOT import any of their relatives. Ever.

No surprise to me considering the non position he took on Parkland and the “Promise” policies put in place there.

The biggest argument for letting these DACA “kids” stay here is that we’ve spent billions of dollars educating them ... so we may as well put them to work here!

Trump wants DACA too, he said so. Not sure why all this anger is directed at Rick Scott.

I love your acronym. I have been worried that in the end of these “negotiations” we’re gonna be left with the Shi+ end of the stick. Somehow we’ve got to let the powers that be that we’re not going to take it anymore. If anyone knows of any rally or other protest or starts one up let everyone else know as well.

We knew Scott is a squish when it came to the illegals so this is no surprise. He’s way better than Nelson. Not saying much but that’s all we get.

“Why a Republican hit piece?”

Hit piece? I just wanted people in Florida to know what their new Senator is thinking, in case they’d like to contact him.

Correct. They all want new rules and regs but they will not enforce current law. They are all worthless. Daca 1, becomes daca 2, daca 3, etc.

“Scott’s going more RINO again.

He wants DACA made permanent, not just three years.”

Regardless, it has to be fixed and once the border fence is up, let’s address DACA and everything else dealing with immigration.

Too many vanity posts without stating the whole list of necessary immigration reform left over since 1986 - 1) the wall 2) eVerify permanence 3) end chain migration 4) birthright citizenship per Minor v Happersett (plural parents) 5) end H1b and spouse visa 6) end visa lottery 7) 10-year moratorium on new citizenship applications 8) rescind drivers licenses for illegal aliens.

1 - 6 are mandatory, and should be present in every post that Trump might see.

What did anyone expect when ‘Constitutional’ went out the door moons ago??

Here’s a tip for you, Ricky. Start every morning with a promise to protect and support your fellow Americans above all else.

So while pushing for the current Congressional immigration and border security deal to include people in DACA and temporary protected status program, plus a border barrier, Scott is not expressing high hopes.

How about a compromise: (1) make DACA deportations a low priority, conditional on rapid Wall construction progress, otherwise deport the DACA criminals and their criminal parents too; (2) the same for "temporary" protected status - it continues to be temporary for the remainder of the year. As for the Wall, in return for these concessions, give Trump enough money to build 1,900 miles of Wall. Let's end this invasion - permanently. Then deport all illegals - no exceptions.

What is so hard about deporting illegal aliens? First, implement e-Verify and root them out of the workplace. I seriously think that simple step will solve most of the “interior enforcement” issues. Then, end TPS, send those folks home. They should thank us for the assistance and leave gracefully. DACA, bonafide kids from 2008 and prior should be given some consideration but only on condition that their illegal families leave and go home. My biggest fear is that they will write this to be just the latest installment of a continuing nightmare saga that sees every kid and young adult now in the US or arriving as future DACA recipients.

Vehemently disagree here.

#1) A Free people do NOT require the permission of GOVT, esp. to work.

It is also NOT biz’s ‘job’ to do the job of GOVT (immigration enforcement) it (willingly) FAILS to even attempt.

*ENFORCE* *THE* *MYRIAD* *EXISTING* *LAWS* my arresting and prosecuting G-O-V-T employees, Fed *and* State (aid\comfort, abetting, collusion, conspiring, etc.). THEN go down to the employers/etc.

This *fishing for minnows* (since it NEVER goes any further) is bull-squeeze.

#2) Concur re: ending. All else is amnesty in name only....no thanks

Remove the carrot, shrink govt and restore property\Rights EASILY, LEGAL\Constitutional (’kill 2+ birds’): Terminate the welfare state in EVERY shape/matter/form/method+

You want DACA Rube Jr? Then pay for entire wall and build it. If funding is cut at any point or misdirected then DACA deal is abrogated and you have 5 year time limit to build barriers or the deal is abrogated.

Scott yet another shill for the chamber of crony crooks.

Watching his performance as Governor this is exactly what I expected. It seems he has no ability to stand-up to lobbying pressure from grievance groups.
***************************************
Sadly, I agree with you. He is definitely out for Rick Scott, and not anyone else. I had a very brief exchange with him in the 1990s when he was CEO of Columbia Healthcare. He seemed to me to be very sneaky/slippery/sly back then, and I don’t mean that as a compliment.
He beat Senator Bill Nelson by emphasizing how old Nelson is, and portraying himself as a ... hmmm ... can’t say how he portrayed himself. He just went after the Puerto Rico vote and kept away from most high-profile stuff that would get him negative press.
I am not surprised that he is acting all Rino, but we hopefully can rely on him to support Trump’s judicial and Supreme Court nominees.
