What Trump needs to do, what he should have done the moment it surfaced that there were irregularities in the access to the NSA database (which Adm Rogers put a stop to) and in FISA warrants, is appoint a second Special Counsel to investigate the FBI, the DOJ, the NSA and the CIA and put some of these people in prison.
Mueller and the Dems/GOPe can’t claim a second Special Counsel is obstruction of justice; it IS justice. It is working within the justice process.
The second Special Counsel should be someone with a history of being a very tough prosecutor in a red state and no past connection to the DOJ or the FBI.
And that person will need a team of very good investigators not previously entangled with the FBI.
The GOP doesn’t want Obama’s crimes subject to criminal prosecution. They have proven they won’t support POTUS on this and he needs them covering his flanks to do it. That’s the bottom line.
Having heard the pablum spewing Trey Gowdy (now no longer a Congressman grandstander who did NOTHING, with hitlery or with any of this Intel scandal), on Brian Kilmeade’s milquetoast radio show yesterday-— it had better not be him as a “kick the can down the road” show biz Special Counsel.
The key to this entire “cleanup” is to remove the “Rice Bowl” (an Asian concept) that is paying ANY of the actors in the DOJ, FBI, Intel... wherever. Remove the means of income— and that includes Fusion GPS types AND the paymaster law firms like Perkins, Coie. So far the overall result is a William Barr— who was in GHWBush’s admin— and definitely NOT the person to clean any of this up— unless it is to “get things back to where they are” with cocaine funded intel and internal operations moving forward.
