I was in San Diego when she sang the National Anthem at that Padres game.
I don’t blame Rosanne one bit. She was a raunchy comedian then just like now; not a singer with no singing events under her belt. Whomever hired her to sing is the one to blame or they grossly misjudged how making raunchy comedy while singing the NA would be taken by a mostly patriotic (at the time) nation.
She did what she always did and what she gets paid to do.
I considered that at the time. And I recall thinking that the decent thing to do would have been to decline the invitation.
That said, she likely was enticed by the idea of some publicity to further her career. I don’t know if that mess helped her or hurt her career. I know it made me sick and tarnished my opinion of her and MLB.
