A Washington Post reporter challenged her newspaper's billionaire owner Jeff Bezos in a series of tweets on Monday to provide paid paternal leave and give female employees equal pay.
National reporter Abigail Hauslohner linked to Bezos' tweet expressing gratitude to journalists and promoting the Washington Posts Super Bowl ad. The commercial, which cost $5.25 million, was narrated by Tom Hanks and highlighted the work of journalists to bring citizens the facts, "no matter the cost."
"I am proud to report for @washingtonpost," Hauslohner wrote. "Ive been shot at while on the job, & Ive run [from] airstrikes. Ive been threatened [with] arrest. [I've] lost brilliant colleagues who were far less lucky. But we report bc it matters; bc an informed public makes informed decisions. I wish however, that I didnt have to give up my vacation & sick days & go wks w/out a salary in order to take leave w my infant daughter as Im doing right now. Women reporters DO matter as much as male reporters, @JeffBezos. But we need your support. We need paid parental leave."
"And we need equal pay," she added. "You can do it because its the right thing to do. Or you can do it because journalism matters. The truth matters. Journalists need to be able to do their best work. They shouldnt have to choose btw work & family."

His wife will certainly get a lot of “paid leave” from the divorce.
The “Facts” “regardless of the cost”?
Is that why we NEVER hear anything even the least bit negative about the Post’s et al “protected classes”?
“Regardless of the cost”
Delusional lol
If shes a real feminist, shed be demanding he pay for her numerous planned abortions.
Such irony, when we hear about “equal pay” for women, and we learn that good liberal organizations are not paying their women employees the same as men.
I wonder if Bezos and his shills, will explain and sound like conservatives, explaining that there are many factors entering into employee pay, such as years of experience, type of job, whether some women employees have taken less stressful jobs because it’s easier to combine with family responsibilities, etc.
The liberal view is that men overall are paid more than women overall, without regard to any other factors, and it’s all because of sexist discrimination.
It’s fun to see liberals get hoisted on their own petard.
That reporter is going to need to find another job. Unless, in his wealth and arrogance, Bezos wants to virtual-signal and play along.
“Ive been shot at while on the job, & Ive run [from] airstrikes”
Who she think she be, Hitlery?
They discriminate? Isn't that illegal? If so, why hasn't anybody sued?................
Well, quit working in DC....................
I have a challenge for Jeff Beezus, too!
Jeff, I challenge you to give me a million dollars!
And a Bentley.
I dont go around throwing down the gauntlet every day, but I felt that in this case I had to do it.
Seems he not only has the tendency to be an adulterer, he also fails to treat women as equals. What a hypocrite.
Abigail Hauslohner is right. If Bezos is willing to blow 70 billion (divorce) on a superannuated bimbo then he should personally pay for Washington Post paternal leave and equal female and LGBTQUERTY pay.
To hell with the compost sniveling Twit. What about all those Amazon workers?
You mean Bezos’s slaves.
