My representatives have just left North Korea after a very productive meeting and an agreed upon time and date for the second Summit with Kim Jong Un. It will take place in Hanoi, Vietnam, on February 27 & 28. I look forward to seeing Chairman Kim & advancing the cause of peace!

I wouldn’t call it buttering him up. I think Trump is genuinely trying to motivate Kim to become productive in a positive way. DJT is very big on the Win-Win style of negotiating IMO.
He is a Salesman. He’s going to meet Kim and Vietnam, he’ll probably casually mention how Vietnam used to be a bitter enemy oh, and look how good they’re doing now.
And Kim, all you have to do....
Rocketman launching rockets certainly won’t work. Building rocket hotels, otoh, is going to get him and his people a whole lot further:
