It is more than just money. It establishes that Congress agrees the wall is necessary. It will make court challenges tougher.
In addition to legal table setting it establish a clear political wall between two parties. The GOP is now forced into choosing between the wall and big business.
That is may take as well.
We go from “there will be no wall” to “there will be a wall”. Also, “no money for a wall, not one dollar” to “$1.xB to *start* with”. This is an agreement on initiative.
The rest just becomes an issue of prioritization of the wall sections. There’s no argument of needing it. There will be less resistance to providing more funding next year. If we can find other money in the mean time to just continue or expand agreed upon initiatives then all the better.
